Pastor Mathews George (Late)
Ted and Cathy met on a pavement near Cathy’s home in the morning. Ted, five, was packed up to go to his pre-school, all cheerful and dynamic. Cathy, seven, was dressed up to go somewhere, rather impatient than anxious.
Cathy: Good morning Ted, what’s the time now?
Ted: 7 o’clock…
Cathy: …..By the way, where are you going to?
Ted: Don’t you see…I’m waiting for my school bus; where are you going?
Cathy: I don’t know.
Ted: Don’t you know? You don’t know the time…now you say you don’t know where you are going to…Liar…!!
Cathy: Don’t call me a liar; really, I don’t know. Mom told me to dress up and wait outside…so I’m waiting and waiting…Oh, where is this Mom, Mamaaaa….!!!!
A very familiar scene. Isn’t it? Ted was calm, quiet, and cheerful because he knew why he was dressed up, where he was going, and what the time was. But Cathy… restless, confused, and ashamed because she didn’t have a proper answer to his genuine questions.
Dear Loving Brother/Sister, Don’t be like Cathy!
It is a pleasure to encounter you at this juncture. Though seemingly casual, this has a purpose! We shouldn’t forget that we human beings are on a pilgrimage… Yes, from past eternity, through present, to future eternity.
If you are able to answer the following very basic questions regarding your life, you are enjoying peace and tranquility in your life. As we all are aware, depression, laziness, and distraction haunt anyone who doesn’t have focus in life. No matter whatever we are, permanent peace evades us if we do not find the answers for some basic questions:
-
- From where did you come to this world?
-
- Why are you on this earth? What’s your Master’s plan in your life?
-
- Where will you reach finally?
If you know the answers to the above crucial questions, well and good. If you don’t know, never mind—let’s go to the Bible. The Bible can answer all human queries because it is God’s Word. Yes, the Bible is God’s chat with man, to clear all our doubts, to show the right way to His abode while enabling us to lead a life pleasing to our Master.
Where are we coming from?
“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)
God made human beings in His own image. Yes, that’s how we came into being as humans on this earth. We have a Creator, just as every one of us has a father. We did not come by chance into this world; it was by the divine purpose of our Creator.
Maybe your spouse doesn’t need you now…maybe your children, parents, siblings, friends, or even employers don’t need you anymore. You may be thinking of yourself as a surplus on earth. But your Creator needs you, He loves you, and He wants to convey to you at this very moment that He has a plan for you. Let it be known to everyone that He is responsible for your tomorrows.
“He gives to the beast its food,
And to the young ravens that cry.” (Psalms 147:9)
Why are you on this earth? What is God’s will regarding your life?
Almighty God wants us to be with Him permanently in eternity forever and ever.
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:3)
And it is while on earth that He prepares us for the same. We become partners of this divine plan when we are obedient to God’s commandments.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
Where will you reach finally?
There are only two possible eternal destinations for anyone who has ever lived on earth: Heaven or Hell.
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” (II Corinthians 5:10)
The choice is yours…and this is the most acceptable time.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 3:23)
“…Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:12)
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (II Corinthians 5:17)
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1)
What’s the Time Now?
This is the right time to turn away from sins, the lust of this world, and the works of darkness.
“In an acceptable time I have heard you,
And in the day of salvation I have helped you.
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (II Corinthians 6:2)
“To you first, God, having raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your sinful ways.” (Acts 3:26)
“Now turn from your sins and turn to God, so you can be cleansed of your sins. Then wonderful times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and He will send Jesus your Messiah to you again.” (Acts 3:19)
Not Only You!
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:31)
